Moving Into My New Home

I’ve moved several times over the years. It can be a very long, stressful process, but I’ve realized after every move that there are things I could do differently to make it easier on myself. First of all, I label every box that I pack from my old house so I know what’s in it. I’ve also started marking the boxes according to which room they go in. This has saved me so much time when I go to unpack.  I also used calgary moving to make the move easier.

Unpacking has taken days or even weeks, depending on my family schedule. I now make sure I have one free week to get everything done. With my most recent move, I had things down pat. When I got to my new home, I started with the bedroom furniture just to be sure we all had a place to sleep the first night. Then I moved on to the kitchen, living room, and dining room. Having all the large pieces of furniture in place, I was able to start bringing boxes in. One by one, every box was placed in the room it belonged.

With all the boxes in place, I chose one room to start with. Of course there were certain things that we needed right away, so I always made sure I had enough time to get those unpacked and organized where they went. Once that was done, I went back to unpacking one room at a time.

Having a new home, I didn’t have to worry about moving things around. I was able to start fresh and put everything right where I wanted it. That saved a huge amount of time, and I had my new home ready in just a few days.

One important thing that I’ve learned is to set aside all those boxes filled with things that we didn’t need. We all have stuff that we collect or hold on to but don’t want to part with. Those boxes ended up getting hauled to the basement where they will stay until our next move!
